WATCH: Alabama Players Celebrate National Championship Win Over Clemson

GLENDALE, Ariz. – By now, they’re used to it.

That doesn’t make it any less exciting for them.

Alabama won the College Football Playoff National Championship Monday night, then reacted as one might expect once the game clock expired.

In a moment of euphoria, Crimson Tide players rushed the field after beating Clemson in the title game, as confetti rained down onto the field and the Million Dollar Band played “Rammer Jammer” in the background. “NATIONAL CHAMPIONS” flashed on the University of Phoenix Stadium videoboards above them as they ran, jumped, yelled and hugged in celebration.

And the way the players beat Clemson, a 45-40 shootout, wasn’t about to damper the postgame party, either.

Alabama, playing for its fourth national championship in seven seasons, survived a scare from a Clemson entering the matchup as the lone undefeated team in the nation at 14-0. The Tigers went back and forth with the Crimson Tide throughout the game, even leading 24-21 going into the fourth quarter with momentum in hand.

But a surprise onside kick recovery after Adam Griffith’s field goal tied it shifted the game into Alabama’s favor. The Crimson Tide capitalized two plays later on Jake Coker’s 51-yard touchdown pass to O.J. Howard and never again relinquished its regained lead.

For the Crimson Tide and coach Nick Saban, it’s their fourth national championship in seven seasons.

Alabama’s fourth-year seniors finish their collegiate careers with a 50-6 record, including two national championships and three SEC titles. Its fifth-year seniors finish 62-7, with three national championships and three SEC titles.
