The top public high schools in Alabama have been ranked by a website that specializes in educational reviews and insights to find the ones that provide the most comprehensive experience for students.

Niche ranked more than 14,000 schools across the country based on "data sourced from various government and public data sets, Niche’s own proprietary data, and 4,625,227 opinion-based survey responses across a variety of topics from 287,560 current students, recent alumni, and parents."

The top 100 schools in Alabama are listed on the site and the Birmingham metro area is home to six of the top 10. Based on the data from Niche, Homewood High School took the top spot in the rankings. It was the only school to receive an 'A' letter grade for every category evaluated.

  2. Mountain Brook High School
  3. Auburn High School
  4. Spain Park High School
  5. Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School
  6. Vestavia Hills High School
  7. Hoover High School
  8. Bob Jones High School
  9. Oak Mountain High School
  10. Hartselle High School
The national top 100 didn't include a single Alabama high school, but Homewood ranked 43rd nationally for Best Facilities and Mountain Brook ranked 59th for Best Academics.
The highest rated school in the Tuscaloosa/West Alabama area was Gordo High school at 49th overall in Alabama.
