Welcome to Who Killed It?, our new column where we rank the verses on classic posse cuts from worst to first. For our first go-round, we took a look at DMX‘s song “Blackout” from his 1998 album, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, but this time we take a gander at another standout selection from one of the greatest years in hip-hop, "Fantastic 4" featuring Cam'ron, Big Pun, N.O.R.E., and Canibus, hosted by DJ Clue. This bruising meeting of the rhymes was facilitated by Clue as part of his album The Professional, an introduction to the mainstream hip-hop fans that weren't street savvy enough to discover the magic of the 60-minute tapes chock full of the hottest releases and exclusives that made the Queens native a legend.

Inking a deal with Roc-A-Fella Records, Clue wanted his debut compilation, The Professional, to give fans highlights similar to those found on his mixtapes and linking four of the most respected and buzzworthy spitters in the rap game at the time was just what the doctor ordered. So when fans got a hold of the tracklist and saw that Cam, Pun, Nore, and Canibus were all featured on the same track with the title "Fantastic 4," the expectations were quite lofty, but the result was one of the most lethal posse-cuts of the late '90s that stood a notch above many of the formidable tunes on the album.

The artists included on the song all released their debut albums during the calendar year of 1998, making "Fantastic 4" a quasi all-star game for some of the leading rookies of the year. But the real question is: who had the best verse? Find out in our latest edition of Who Killed It?
