Storms and wind gusts could cause problems in our listening area, and the National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Wind Advisory in effect until 6 p.m. today.

A line of thunderstorms will be moving through the state today, and strong winds are possible ahead and following the storms. Sustained winds of 10 to 20 MPH are possible; wind gusts of up to 35 MPH are possible as well. The full text of the advisory is below.

UPDATE: The Wind Advisory is now in effect through 6 p.m.

Wind damage has already been reported in Walker County, where wind gusts of 41 MPH have been recorded. Trees and power lines are down on Highway 5, just past Jones Road in the Lupton community.
