A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our listening area through 12 am tomorrow (Saturday, December 9), and the National Weather Service in Birmingham has now upgraded several counties to a Winter Storm Warning.

The counties shaded in pink in the map above are in the warned area. For our listeners, that means Hale, Perry, Greene, Sumter, Bibb, and Chilton Counties are now under a Winter Storm Warning until midnight. The NWS forecasts snowfall amounts between 1 and 3 inches in the Winter Storm Warning area.

Those of us north of the warning area are still under a Winter Weather Advisory. Snowfall totals will vary between 1/4 to 2 inches, with the majority of accumulation happening before 12 noon today. Snowfall could be heavy at times, making morning commutes difficult.
