The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from 6am tomorrow through 3am Wednesday, and a Hard Freeze Watch from 9pm Tuesday until 9am Wednesday as snow an freezing temperatures move into the area.

Meteoroligist James Spann says that we should expect snow on Tuesday, starting to the north and likely in the Tuscaloosa area in mid to late afternoon.  Snow amounts are expected to be light, generally under two inches. Most places will see 1″ or less.

The bigger concern is the cold temperatures on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday night.  Any show or precipitation on the roads could freeze and make road conditions very icy and dangerous, especially on elevated roads, bridges and rural areas.

Stay tuned for updated forecasts today and tonight as changes are very possible.

Meanwhile in Tuscaloosa, a warming station will be set up Tuesday and Wenesday nights at Tuscaloosa Salvation Army, 1035 29th St.  Also, if you know anyone who needs a warm place to stay, you can contact and Tuscaloosa Public Safety Officer or call 205-349-2121.
