Woman Shot And Killed On I-65 By An Alabama State Trooper

Authorities have released the identity of the woman who was shot and killed by an Alabama State Trooper Wednesday Night.

The Chilton County Coroner identified the woman as 40-year-old Wendy Michelle Chappell of Maylene.

The trooper was stationed at a construction zone on I-65 near the 238 mile marker when a man approached him and told him his wife threatened to shoot him.

When the trooper tried to stop the woman’s vehicle she refused to pull over resulting in a chase. Lawmen used spike strips to stop her.  Troopers say the woman fired on them after a brief standoff, and they returned fire.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.
