Now that we're in the holiday season, many people are taking off work and those who aren't have much more lenient schedules. This is good for those who like to be involved in social activities as there are quite a few this weekend.

Friday night's events include Theatre Tuscaloosa's performance of Life, Death, and Other Wonders at Shelton State and Lights Up at the Summit, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This will include a parade, performances by the Birmingham Boy's choir and Red Mountain Theater Company. In addition, Santa will be available to take pictures.

Saturday includes events for everyone. The 3rd Annual "Taking Thanksgiving to the Streets" event will be held at 19th Street and 29the Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A Pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Shopping Bazaar will be held at the Bell Activity Center from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and will have such vendors on hand as Mary Kay, Jamberry, Scentsy, Avon, it works, MW International, Lashes by Mrs Jackie, Younique, Deep South Creations LLC, All Things Painted, and concessions by FBC Akron.

At mid afternoon, the Crimson Tide will take on Charleston Southern Buccaneers at Bryant Denny Stadium with kickoff at 3:00 p.m. Later that night, Smokey Robinson will perform live at the Alabama Theater with the show beginning at 7:00 p.m., and comedian Chris Tucker will perform live at Wind Creek Casino and Hotel in Wetumpka at 8:00 p.m.

Plenty of activities to enjoy this weekend, whether with your family, a group of friends, or for a date. Make sure to be careful as some will have already begun their holiday celebrations.
