Professional wrestling has lost one of its biggest stars as The Ultimate Warrior has passed away at age 54 just three days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The wrestling legend was honored in New Orleans on Saturday prior to Wrestlemania XXX. He also appeared on Monday's 'WWE Raw', speaking to fans from inside the ring, which marked his first time on the show since 1996. He would pass away less than 24 hours later.

World Wrestling Entertainment issued this statement:

WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior's family, friends and fans.

The Ultimate Warrior rose to fame during the late 80s and early 90s as part of the old World Wrestling Federation. He and Hulk Hogan became superstars in a sport that exploded in popularity, and Warrior would eventually hold the WWF Intercontinental and World Championships at the same time after defeating Hogan at Wrestlemania VI.

Hulk Hogan tweeted shortly after learning of the news.
