This is bad news for pumpkin lovers. It looks like we will have a shortage of canned pumpkins this year. This is due to Illinois pumpkin crops.

According to People.com Illinois pumpkin crops could yield a third less pumpkins than usual this year. I had no idea that Illinois is responsible for 90 percent of the pumpkin growth in the United States, that’s a lot of pumpkins.

The shortage is likely due to record rainfall Illinois experienced in June this year. The farmer who lost their crops replanted them but that didn’t yield enough to make up for the shortage.

Manufacturers of canned pumpkin suggest you get your canned pumpkin early because win they run out they are out.
