TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama is preparing for its first-round playoff game against the Oklahoma Sooners, with the Crimson Tide limping into the playoffs severely banged up after a grueling SEC schedule.

Alabama was without starting tight end Josh Cuevas, starting running back Jam Miller, starting bandit defensive lineman LT Overton, and starting left guard Kam Dewberry. Additionally, reserve offensive lineman Geno VanDeMark, starting center Parker Brailsford, and starting wide receiver Germie Bernard were banged up during Alabama's 28-7 loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship.

On Monday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided updates on Brailsford, Miller, Cuevas, and Overton and their statuses heading into the College Football Playoff on Friday night.

During Monday's media-viewing portion of Alabama's CFP practice, tight end Josh Cuevas was in a white jersey, but worked off to the side by himself on a stationary bike. "Making progress out there. Doing some work." DeBoer said they're "optimistic" about Cuevas' availability at this point.

"Jam [Miller], he's making progress," DeBoer said. "Just kind of continue to see how the week goes along." Parker Brailsford and Kam Dewberry were working with Alabama's first-team offensive line when reporters were present. "Parker is doing good, he's been practicing," DeBoer said.

Defensive end LT Overton is doubtful for Friday. He missed the Tide's SEC championship loss with a previously termed medical condition. Alabama will "continue to monitor" Overton, per DeBoer.

Alabama and Oklahoma will kick off in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Friday, December 19, at 7:00 p.m. CT.
