Alabama Drops Season Series Against LSU
BATON ROUGE, La. - Alabama lost game two and the series to LSU with a 4-3 defeat on Friday. The Crimson Tide's late-inning comeback fell short, allowing the Tigers not only to secure the win but also to take the season series against Alabama. Rob Vaughn and the Crimson Tide will aim to avoid a series sweep in Saturday's game three matchup between the SEC foes.

Alabama got off to a strong start in this game, scoring its first run in the top of the first inning. Kade Snell grounded out to second base, which allowed Alabama's leadoff hitter, Bryce Fowler, to come home after doubling to start the inning. However, Vaughn’s team was unable to add any more runs, leaving Justin Lebron stranded at third base.
Alabama’s starting pitcher, Riley Quick, had an impressive outing through the first two innings before giving up two runs in the bottom of the third inning when LSU’s Daniel Dickerson drove home Chris Stanfield to even the game at one run. Following this, Jared Jones, the Tigers' first baseman, knocked a double to right center field to drive home Dickerson to give LSU a 2-1 lead going into the fourth inning.
Alabama failed to answer, with LSU’s defense dominating the Tide, with Tigers’ starting pitcher Anthony Eyanson having an amazing outing, with the right-handed pitcher recording 12 strikeouts through six innings, only allowing one earned run.
The Crimson Tide had a chance to tie the game and even take the lead with bases loaded and LeBron, who leads the team in RBIs (58), up at bat for the Tide with two outs, but unfortunately for Alabama, the Tide’s star shortstop struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch which retired the inning and left the Crimson Tide with three stranded base runners to end the top of the fourth inning.
LSU took advantage of their scoring opportunities in the bottom of the fourth inning, with Derek Curiel knocking a double out to center field to bring home Stanfield and Michael Braswell III to make it a 4-1 ball game.
Alabama’s Braylon Myers checked into the game in the fourth inning to relieve Quick, who allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out three batters through three innings. Today’s loss drops Quick to 5-2 on the season.
Myers had an impressive outing with the Senior coming in and not allowing another run on his time on the mound, with Myers recording six strikeouts while only allowing two hits through 3.2 innings before being relieved by Coulson Buchanan, who also didn’t allow another run through the rest of the game.
Alabama’s center fielder, Richie Bonomolo Jr., cut into the Tigers’ three-point lead when he singled up the middle to center field, which advanced Snell home to make it 4-2 going into the bottom of the seventh.
The Tide came close in the bottom of the ninth when Snell’s sac fly brought home Fowler to make it a one-run game, but unfortunately, Bonomolo Jr. lined out to Steven Milam to give LSU the series-clinching win.
