Alabama State Men’s Basketball Made History on Tuesday
DAYTON, Ohio- There's a university in the state of Alabama that made history during the NCAA Tournament, and it's neither Alabama nor Auburn.

On Tuesday, March 18, Alabama State Men's Basketball shocked the nation by earning the school's first-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Saint Francis in a thrilling First Four matchup. The Hornets showed resilience and a never-say-die attitude to pull off a historic 70-68 win that will be remembered for years to come.
As the game entered its final moments, with the score tied and the clock winding down, the atmosphere in Dayton was electric. The Hornets, making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in over two decades, were on the brink of creating something truly special. That's when sophomore guard Amarr Knox stepped up in a way that legends are made of.
With just seconds remaining, Knox took control, fighting hard to get to the basket and finishing with a buzzer-beater layup that sent the crowd and social media into a frenzy. The ball sailed through the air as the clock hit 0.7 seconds before falling through the net, and just like that, the Hornets had punched their ticket to the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Looking ahead to the First Round, the Hornets now face a daunting challenge when they face the Auburn Tigers on Thursday, March 20, at 2:50 p.m. EST in Lexington, Kentucky. The Hornets carry with them the momentum of their historic win. Whatever happens next, March 18, 2025, will go down in history as the day the Hornets made their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance unforgettable.
