How Severe is Proctor’s Injury?
Prior to the start of Alabama's 63-0 beatdown of Western Kentucky, fear struck the Crimson Tide faithful when it was discovered that Kadyn Proctor left pregame warmups with a trainer, and returned in street clothes with his arm in a sling when Alabama took the field for the first time.
Proctor did not play in the Crimson Tide's first game of the season. How long will Proctor be out of the lineup?
Head coach Kalen DeBoer discussed Proctor's injury following Alabama's win on Saturday.
"It just caught me by surprise obviously," DeBoer said. "He couldn't go tonight. We'll continue to evaluate tomorrow and see how the week goes on, just to see the severity of it."
According to reports, Proctor could miss some time for Alabama, with the star left tackle's injury reportedly keeping home out on a "week to week" basis.
Matt Zenitz and Alex Scarborough of 247 Sports were the first to report of Proctor's status.
The injury could keep Proctor out for multiple games, but the hope is he will be fully healthy by midseason. Early rumors indicate a potential torn labrum, which has a recovery time of four-to-six weeks. This would allow Proctor to return any time from September 28 against Georgia to October 19 against Tennessee.
Proctor played in every game for Alabama last season, starting all 14 games at left tackle for the Crimson Tide. He competed with Elijah Pritchett for the starting spot in 2023. After spending Spring Football at his hometown school, Iowa, Proctor returned to Alabama and won his starting job back from Pritchett during Fall Camp in 2024.
Miles McVay was listed as the backup left tackle on the depth chart provided before the game, but it was Elijah Pritchett who entered the starting lineup following Proctor's freak injury on Saturday. Wilkin Formby was the starting right tackle.
