The third time was the charm for Alabama to land Ryan Grubb. Nick Saban tried to hire him in 2023 before Grubb decided to stay at Washington, and Kalen DeBoer tried to bring Grubb with him to Tuscaloosa last offseason before Grubb decided to accept a job with the Seattle Seahawks. After one year apart from one another, DeBoer was able to convince Grubb to return to Tuscaloosa as the Alabama offensive coordinator.

On Friday, DeBoer joined The Next Round, where he discussed Grubb being with the Crimson Tide and his first spring as Alabama's offensive coordinator.

"Obviously, Ryan [Grubb] and I have a special history, past, and relationship. It's great to have him back for sure," DeBoer said. "The way he incorporated himself back into the staff - when I say back, he had a relationship with Nick Sheridan and Jamarcus Shephard in particular - there's a whole group of men who sit in that room every single day, long hours, he's just really taken it over, as I would've expected, and the rest of the staff just really doing their part to be there to work together with him, and make our offense better and take the next step. It's been fun seeing all that come together the way it has, and the way you'd hope."

Nick Sheridan, Alabama's offensive coordinator in 2023, accepted a changed role on the coaching staff once Grubb was hired. Sheridan is now the quarterbacks coach for the Crimson Tide, with Grubb taking over as the offensive coordinator. Sheridan still holds the title of co-offensive coordinator, according to the Alabama football staff directory.

JaMarcus Shephard is listed as the Assistant Head Coach, Co-Offensive Coordinator, and Wide Receivers Coach.
