Alabamians Should Brace for Dangerous Wind Chill Factors
The Townsquare Media Center is monitoring the potential impact of winter weather next week on our area. Residents should also be concerned about dangerous wind chill values and bitterly cold conditions.
The Weather Channel alerts that the “coldest lows of the winter so far will occur in some cities and wind chills will be dangerous.”
Ultimately, it indicated that being prepared for these conditions is advisable.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said, “An Arctic air mass will move into Central Alabama Sunday night.”
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “The coldest air so far this season will invade the Deep South Sunday; this frigid air will be in place through Wednesday.”
“Temperatures by Monday morning will drop as low as 11-19 degrees across the area, with dangerous wind chills in the single digits to near zero. Similar conditions are expected Tuesday morning, said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
