Classic “Dynamite” Movie Comes To Tuscaloosa In The Flesh
It’s a movie that came out in 2004, and there’s no doubt about it. This became an instant classic.

The film's official description calls it a “coming-of-age” comedy.
I don’t know about the coming-of-age part, but it is definitely one of the funniest movies of the 2000s.
Set in Preston, Idaho, the story follows the extremely awkward teenager Napoleon Dynamite.
He just cannot seem to fit in, and on top of everything, his grandmother is injured in an accident.
If that’s not enough, things get even stranger when his uncle Rico shows up to keep an eye on him.
The movie took on an entirely separate life with many viewers, and some of them were academics who interpreted Napoleon’s character as consistent with autism spectrum disorder.
The lead star, Jon Heder, only made $1000 for his role in Napoleon Dynamite.
Can you imagine? $1,000 for what became a major hit movie around the world.
The movie was made on a budget of less than half a million dollars and grossed almost $50,000,000.
The historic Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa is hosting a Napoleon Dynamite event on Thursday, January 9th.
All the main fan-favorite cast members will be there, including Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez (Pedro), and Jon Gries (Uncle Rico).
The screening, followed by an interactive experience with the stars, will begin at 7:00 pm.
