Stillman College Lands Grant from Home Depot Retool Your School
Stillman College has secured a $75,000 Innovation Lounge Grant from the Home Depot Retool Your School program. The funding will be used to transform the top floor of the Hay College Center into a state-of-the-art innovation lounge.
The grant was awarded to transform the top floor of the Hay College Center into a hub for innovation and collaboration. The redesigned space will provide students with enhanced access to resources, blending academic support with opportunities for practical career development.

“The determination for an innovation lounge stemmed from recognizing the imperative of nurturing creativity, collaboration, and technological proficiency among students, which is vital for their future career prospects,” said Jean Wilson, director of Alumni Affairs. “Through a thorough assessment of student needs and industry demands, it became evident that a dedicated space for innovation would significantly augment their practical skills and readiness for the rapidly evolving job market.”
The grant will fund upgrades including paint, flooring, lighting, and drywall, alongside new furniture and technology packages to transform the space. The innovation lounge is set to host STEM activities, workshops, and collaborative projects, featuring cutting-edge tools like 3D printers, smart boards, and adaptable furniture. Designed for academic learning and professional growth, the space will encourage students to exchange ideas and work together on projects.
“The implementation of the innovation lounge is poised to revolutionize the educational experience for students at Stillman College by offering a multifaceted approach to learning and skill development,” said Andrew Robertson, dean of Stillman Online and Career Services.
“The innovation lounge will cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, inspiring students to think creatively, take risks, and pursue innovative solutions to complex challenges. Its integration of Career Services within the lounge will bridge the gap between academic learning and professional development, equipping students with the necessary skills, networks, and resources to succeed in their chosen career paths."
