Tuscaloosa residents should expect changes to city office hours and garbage collection schedules as the City of Tuscaloosa prepares to observe the Labor Day holiday.

Several city offices will close early on Friday, Sept. 4. City Hall will close at 4 p.m., while the Water Business Office lobby will close at 3:30 p.m. The Water Business Office drive-through will remain open until 4 p.m., and Tuscaloosa 311 will close at 5 p.m.

On Monday, Sept. 7, the listed offices will remain closed in observance of Labor Day.

Normal operating hours for city offices and services are scheduled to resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The holiday will also affect garbage, trash and recycling collection throughout Tuscaloosa. All routes will be delayed by one day beginning Monday.

Residents who normally receive collection on Monday will have their garbage, trash and recycling picked up Tuesday, Sept. 8. Tuesday routes will move to Wednesday, Sept. 9, and Wednesday routes will be collected Thursday, Sept. 10.

Residents with a normal Thursday collection day will have their items picked up Friday, Sept. 11.

The city is encouraging residents to take note of the adjusted schedule to avoid missing collection during the shortened holiday week.

The one-day delay applies to garbage, trash and recycling services, with the regular collection schedule expected to return following the holiday adjustment.
