
Mississippi Mother and 3-Year-Old Found Dead in West Alabama, State Police Investigating
State police are investigating after a Mississippi woman and her young child were found dead in a river in west Alabama.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced the case on Friday afternoon in a press release, saying the investigation began as a missing persons matter in Mississippi.

State police in that state say Shardee McGill, 32, and her child were last believed to be in Jackson, Miss., on Sunday, Sept. 21.
As the search for the missing pair widened, the mother's vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, was found in the Epes Community in Sumter County in West Alabama on Tuesday.
ALEA's State Bureau of Investigation, helicopter units, boat units and locals with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Jackson Police Department, MBI, the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Jackson and Birmingham to launch a search.
According to the Friday announcement, the body of an adult female was discovered in the Tombigbee River on Thursday. Earlier Friday, a child’s body was also located in the Tombigbee River.
The identities of the victims have not been confirmed, but a forensic investigation is underway. No other information was available Friday afternoon.
