The impact of a rare winter storm in west Alabama Friday was limited in Tuscaloosa County, but State Troopers say roads in other areas are closed for icy conditions.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in West Alabama, said most counties overseen from the Trooper's Tuscaloosa Post were not badly affected by the snow and sleet that fell before dawn Friday.

In Tuscaloosa, Hale, Bibb, Greene and Sumter Counties, King said there were no significant weather or road conditions to report on state and federal roads.

Locally, governments and police agencies have not reported serious problems in many places, except on the 2nd Avenue overpass bridge leading to the University of Alabama, which became slick with ice Friday morning.

UPDATE, 12:15 P.M.

Senior Trooper Gregory Corble said most previously closed or impassable roads in West Alabama are open again.

Roads are closed in four counties in Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa's coverage area, according to King and Corble - in Pickens County, Fayette County, Lamar County and Walker County, "all state and federal roads have been graded and/or salted and seem to be passable with some slick spots. There is a least one lane clear and open on most roadways."

In Walker County, there are reports of multiple commercial and passenger vehicle accidents on I-22, but as of 12:15, the roadway is not blocked.
