Fosters Man Charged With Robbing Tuscaloosa Target with Boxcutter
A West Alabama man has been arrested and charged with armed robbery after he allegedly wielded a box cutter to steal merchandise from the Target store in Tuscaloosa.
According to court documents filed Friday, 53-year-old Steve Allen Thigpen entered the store on Friday, April 18th, and concealed merchandise before trying to walk out.

A loss prevention officer attempted to stop Thigpen, investigators say, and he pulled a box cutter from his pocket, deployed the razor blade within and threatened them with it.
Police say the Fosters man walked toward the Target employee with the blade raised, passing within a couple of feet of the worker before getting past and leaving the store property.
The entire interaction was reportedly captured on surveillance cameras, and police arrested Thigpen on Wednesday.
Involving the weapon turns what may have been a retail theft or theft of property charge into first-degree armed robbery.
Thigpen was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
