The Alabama Crimson Tide entered Auburn Arena coming off its best performance of the season on Saturday, but in what has now become characteristic fashion, the Tide was unable to string together a consecutive performance and fell to Auburn 100-81.
The Alabama Crimson Tide entered Saturday's contest with the No. 4 Baylor Bears coming off its worst regular season loss in the KenPom Era. The Tide shook off Tuesday's lackluster effort and brought the fight to the defending national champions.
Just before tip-off, Alabama honored the late Luke “Fluffapotamus” Ratliff by presenting his mom Pam with a plaque and by dedicating the seat the super fan sat in to his memory.
Ratliff passed away in March due to complications from COVID-19 after attending nearly every game – home and away- that the basketball team played during his years as an Alabama student.
“He was more than just a fan,” Oats said. “He was a part of us. It felt like he was a part of the program.”
Alabama junior guard Jaden Shackelford has announced via his Twitter that he will withdraw from the transfer portal and return to Tuscaloosa for the 2021 season. Shackelford had entered the portal at the beginning of the month at the same time withdrawing his name from NBA consideration. The guard from California led the Tide in scoring last season with 14 points per game.
