University Of Alabama Student Shot Multiple Times Fights For His Life

Despite the odds a University of Alabama Student and Florence native shot multiple times by the uncle of a friend Friday Night while on break in Florida is fighting for his life.

22-year-old Rivers Starkey is in very critical condition at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola Florida. When deputies found Starkey, the grandson of the late former Alabama Rep. Nelson Starkey was bleeding so heavily that they could not locate his gunshot wounds.

Doctors treating Starkey believe he was grazed on the right thigh by one shot, and another bullet was deflected into the right side of his his head after it struck his elbow.

59-year-old John Marshall Fitzgerald is being held at the Santa Rosa County jail on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
