As I am writing this, I am sick. It doesn't matter how many jackets, coats, and boots I ordered, this Florida girl was not ready for the Alabama cold. Before this weekend, I couldn't tell you the last time I've been in 30 degree weather - and for good reason.

Here's 5 ways to avoid the cold/flu season this winter.

1. Wash your hands. All the time. It doesn't matter if you haven't done anything all day, your hands still carry germs.

2. Wrap up. No, we won't judge you if you're dressed like an Eskimo - we're actually pretty jealous of how warm you are. Invest in a scarf to keep the area around your neck warm. Always have on socks.

3. Binge on the Vitamin C. I don't think you can overdose on Vitamin C, so have plenty of it ( I'm not a doctor). Get Vitamin C drops, they come in great flavors, and usually found around the cough drop section.

4. Eat healthy. I know when it's freezing cold outside we go for the 'comfort foods', but salads are great too ( easy on the dressing). You need to maintain a healthy diet to keep your immune system up and going.

5. Get plenty of sleep. The easiest way people get sick is from exhaustion. So make sure you're getting at least seven hours of sleep a night.
