Great news for Alabama schools.  Many of the magnet, charter or public schools were ranked among the best in the nation.

According to Al.com U.S. News and World Reports of Alabama’s 361 public schools 118 have national honors

The publication analyzed four categories at 21,000 charter, magnet and public schools across the country: reading proficiencies, mathematics proficiencies, college readiness, and student-teacher ratios.

The Alabama schools could not be ranked based on college readiness because the state did not release Advanced Placement data to the publication. The schools could have ranked higher if the college readiness data had been made available.
