Alabama State Trooper Resigns After Domestic Incident

An Alabama State Trooper has resigned as a result of a domestic incident last October in which according to Al.com he used his vehicle and state issued weapon illegally.

Authorities say Trooper Gary Shannon Gates was in Arab on October 24, 2014 at his estranged wife’s home.

She reported to the police that he was under the influence of alcohol when he showed up.  She also said he threatened her with his service gun before putting the gun in his mouth threatening suicide.

Gates is no longer with the Highway Patrol according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
