The 2014 Oscars boasted a red carpet full of neutral gowns, metallic frocks and black dresses. There wasn’t too much in the way of color, but those who did choose to don non-neutrals and non-black stood out — namely Jennifer Lawrence and Lupita Nyong’o. Here is the PopCrush rundown of the best dressed starlets at the 2014 ceremony.
Lupita Nyongo’s ice blue, custom Prada dress was princess-like, which was a different look for her. She was Lupitarella and absolutely lovely in what she called “Nairobi blue.”
J. Law’s tomato red, peplum Dior was flawless — a modern update on Old Hollywood glam, which showed off her figure.
Angelina Jolie sparkled in her metallic and sublimely sexy frock.
Charlize Theron stunned in this black Dior frock with its unconventional top half, which resembled wine bottles. The actress could make a Hefty trash bag look chic, though. The girl is blessed.
Cate Blanchett’s blush, applique covered Armani was feminine but not fussy. She looked like a starry-eyed dream.
Amy Adams, her red hair and peaches and cream complexion were a perfect match for her rich sapphire Gucci column gown, which showed off her shape.
Heavily pregnant Olivia Wilde was simple and chic in her black column dress by Valentino. Her baby bump is, was and remains incredibly well-dressed.
Emma Watson’s metallic and sparkly, ombre-hued Vera Wang dress was chic and young, and it totally turned our heads.
Kristen Bell’s Cavalli gown was sexy, with its corset top — yet sweet, with its confectionary, frothy bottom. We loved the hybrid style.
