A quick look at Jailbase will easily reveal that domestic violence is a serious issue in Tuscaloosa County for both men and women!

There used to be a mindset that when domestic violence is discussed, it primarily concerns a battered woman.  However, there is a growing number of cases where men are being assaulted by women! Be it known that domestic violence is NEVER okay, not even when the woman is the aggressor.

(Warning: STRONG language)

In talking with some victims of domestic violence, mothers often say they stayed with their oppressors because they were good fathers to the couples' children. Most believed they'd be doing their children a disservice by removing themselves from a household with a present father. Sadly, they overlooked the fact that children are extremely observant and notice even the things they don't talk about. They can tell when we've been crying, even when we show no tears.  They know when we're hurting, even when we're "trying" to behave as if everything is okay. The best thing a victim of domestic violence, especially one with children, can do is GET OUT!
