It’s always good news to hear about new industry coming to Alabama. According to Gov. Robert Bentley Google plans to build a $600 million data center in Stevenson, Alabama.

Gov. Bentley said the center will bring between 75 and 100 high paying jobs to Jackson County in North East Alabama. Construction will start in 2016.

This will be Google’s seventh data center in the U.S. and 14th worldwide.

Gov. Bentley is giving Huntsville attorney and Tennessee Valley Authority Chairman Joe Ritch credit for helping to secure the project for the state of Alabama.

President and CEO of the Jackson County Economic Development Authority Dus Rogers said he expects Google to be a great civic partner throughout the region.
