Instagram User Exposes Rappers, Singers With Fake Watches
These days, it’s hard to front if you’re a rapper because someone who has the time to patrol the Internet will always be willing to call you out. That’s exactly what an Instagram user by the name of FakeWatchBusta is doing by exposing artists who sport fake watches, claiming they’re the real deal.
Apparently, the guy is a watch expert because not only does he list people who don’t have the real thing, he goes in detail about how he knows. For example, he exposes singer Sean Kingston for having a fake Rolex.
“[Kingston is] mixing up his genuine watches with a bunch of fakes,” writes FakeWatchBusta on his Instagram account.
“Fake solid gold #Audemars Piguet #RoyalOak without a date that doesn’t exist. Bottom left is a buddy of him with a 9 on an Offshore. The only Royal Oaks with the number 9 is the limited Shaq and the Terminator, probably a couple of more.”
He also reveals Soulja Boy and Waka Flocka Flame have done the same thing, but he alludes to the fact that these rappers may not know the difference between a fake Rolex and a real one. They were duped by their jeweler.
In addition, the anonymous Instagram user recently spoke with Noisey, and says although he hasn’t received any backlash from any rappers or sports figures yet, he’s getting sued by a number of jewelers. He also shares that he lives outside of the U.S.
“I’m a dude in my 30s from Europe,” he explains. “I don’t want to [give anymore details] since the threat of lawsuits are starting to pile up from the jewelers selling these fake watches. I get a cease and desist letter almost once a week. Instagram shut down my first account after I busted Carmelo Anthony with a fake Audemars Piguet and a fake Panerai.”
And although FakeWatchBusta doesn’t consider himself an expert, he knows a lot about high-end watches, and he knows exactly how they’re made.
“I’m not a watchmaker,” he states. “I’m just a detail freak and it’s part of my obsession with watches. It’s a million details on a space of 4cm.”
