Jay Z Partners with National Geographic to Release a Docu-Series on Race Relations in America

If anyone ever disses Jay Z again, for any reason at all, they should be cast out of the the hip-hop community forever and be totally ostracized. Why?

Because the guy has created a blueprint — pun fully intended — for rappers to follow after they leave their 20s and 30s. Basically, Hov has shown MCs how to stay cool and relevant, not to mention rich, after they don’t want to rhyme as much.

So far, he’s put out some of the most memorable albums in rap music and has also been a colossal success in a slew of business ventures. And now, Jigga Man is tackling Hollywood, and he’s partnered with one of its heaviest of heavyweights in Harvey Weinsten.

After Jay and The Weinsten Company released the incredible six-part documentary series Time: The Kalief Browder Story, they’ve now partnered with National Geographic to do a piece on race relations in the United States.

According to Variety, the series will simply be called Race, and it’ll specifically examine where we are as a society after Donald Trump’s shocking presidential victory. Plus, the veteran journalist Katie Couric will be involved as the lead reporter.

“National Geographic and Jay Z are the world’s foremost storytellers in their own right, and we’re thrilled to be working with them on such an evocative and meaningful project,” said Weinsten in a press release. “By using highly cinematic storytelling techniques, along with Jay Z’s singular point of view, the series will tell a dramatic, thought-provoking story on race in America.”

Race marks the third project by Jay and The Weinstein Company so far, the first being Time: The Kalief Browder Story and they’re currently working on a docu-series about the death of Trayvon Martin.

No specific release dates have been given either for that project or Race at this time.
