Lamar Odom's family hosted an intervention for the troubled former basketball star, but it was unfortunately unsuccessful.

Extra reports Odom's close family members, including his children, aunt JaNean Mercer, and ex-wife, Liza Morales, were on hand to stage an intervention but it didn't go according to plan. Still, his family says they are committed to getting him help.

According to Extra, sources say Lamar's cousin Alvina Alston even reached out to former baseball player Darryl Strawberry to convince Lamar to get on a plane to start rehab at the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in Florida. Ron Dock, who counseled Darryl and was responsible for his recovery was in attendance at the intervention, while Darryl joined via Skype. However, the intervention was unsuccessful.

Odom has continuously battled with drug addiction. He was escorted off a New York-bound plane earlier this month after vomiting on himself after allegedly downing several drinks, reports Page Six.

Odom was not immediately available for comment, however his ex Khloe Kardashian, who filed for divorce from him for a second time in May, recently got into it with a fan over Odom's plane drama on Twitter. After a fan criticized her for her rumored romance with Trey Songz, Khloe retorted: “Stay in your f—king lane little girl. You know nothing about anything. You’re a sheep herded by society.”

In October 2015, Odom survived a near-fatal overdose at a Nevada legal brothel. Here's hoping Odom can finally get the help he truly needs.
