Lil Wayne Remains Hospitalized Days After Seizures, Rapper ‘Needs Rehab’

Several days have passed since Lil Wayne was admitted into Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for uncontrollable seizures. While conflicting reports surfaced claiming he was close to death, the rapper’s health seems to be improving, though he remains in the intensive care unit.

According to an unnamed source close to the rapper, the 30-year-old, born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., needs to seek help for his drink of choice: sizzurp or lean, the street name for a cocktail laced with the prescription drug codeine and promethazine.

“He drank too much sizzurp to get a better high,” the source told Us Weekly of what put Wayne in the hospital. “He needs rehab but he’s not close to death or anything. He’s fine and just coming down off the high.”

TMZ reports that the ‘I Am Not a Human Being II’ creator has been at Cedars-Sinai Hospital recovering for six days. The gossip site also claims Wayne’s stomach was pumped at least three times after doctors suspected he had overdosed on codeine.

The gossip site has come under fire since originally reporting on Wayne’s health condition Friday night (March 15). Close friends of the rapper, Mack Maine and T.I., were quick to take aim at TMZ for misleading the public about him being on his death bed.

“@tmz and definitely don’t try to kill a man before his time….so from the bottom of my soul and on behalf of my fam……F— YOU,” Mack wrote in a tweet, which has since been deleted from Twitter. T.I. also shared similar sentiments. “Just holla’d @ my Lil bruh Tunechi…& he skraight! TMZ some f— n—-z for reporting that hoe-a– s—!!! That man daughter is like mines,” he wrote in his tweet.

No official statement on the incident has come from the Young Money head honcho other than a tweet from his Twitter account reading, “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.”

Since Lil Wayne was admitted, Drake, Birdman and Nicki Minaj, among others, have visited him to check up on his well-being.

There’s one week to go before his 10th album, ‘I Am Not a Human Being II,’ arrives on March 26. Hopefully, Wayne will be in good health and better spirits to promote this new opus.
