Yesterday, it was announced that Beyoncé has created the Formations Scholars awards to celebrate the one year anniversary of her acclaimed project, Lemonade.

The scholarship was formed to support young women who are “unafraid to think outside the box, bold, creative, conscious, and confident," and four women will be awarded scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year. Students at Howard University, Spelman College, Berklee College of Music, and Parsons School of Design are eligible with applicants required to be incoming, current, or graduates studying creative arts, music, literature or African-American Studies.

Well, one person in particular was especially excited about Bey's announcement—Michelle Obama.

“Always inspired by your powerful contributions Beyonce," she tweeted yesterday. "You are a role model for us all. Thank you for investing in our girls.”

Of course, during her time as First Lady, Michelle was heavily focused on education and empowering women and young girls, launching the Let Girl Learn initiative back in 2015.
