The fun will all be held virtually on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. In the spirit of scholarship, this fundraising event will help provide financial assistance to deserving youth in our community and support more philanthropic efforts. In 2020, the foundation awarded $4,000 in scholarships to two area seniors who are now enrolled at The University of Alabama and The University of South Alabama. This year, the Cultured Pearls Foundation of Tuscaloosa County will award two $2,000 scholarships to two deserving high school seniors.

If you have ever been to a Big Dawg DreDay party, you already know that you are going to PAR-TY and have a good time! Seriously, people are still talking about my birthday party from December 2020. At the Virtual Scholarship Gala: “Magnifying Pearl Magic! Pearlescence,” you can party with a purpose.

LOOK: Milestones in women's history from the year you were born

Women have left marks on everything from entertainment and music to space exploration, athletics, and technology. Each passing year and new milestone makes it clear both how recent this history-making is in relation to the rest of the country, as well as how far we still need to go. The resulting timeline shows that women are constantly making history worthy of best-selling biographies and classroom textbooks; someone just needs to write about them.

Scroll through to find out when women in the U.S. and around the world won rights, the names of women who shattered the glass ceiling, and which country's women banded together to end a civil war.
