Springfield will get a visit from a famous hip-hop star very soon. Pharrell took to social media to reveal that he will be a guest star on a future episode of 'The Simpsons.'

The news was shared on the super producer's I Am Other Instagram account along with a photo of the character he'll play. "Surprise! Get ready to see @Pharrell as a guest on #TheSimpsons very soon!" read the caption.

From the image, Pharrell will appear as himself on the animated show along with his trademark Vivienne Westwood hat. 'The Simpsons' has had a long history of famous musical guest stars including 50 Cent playing himself in the episode 'Pranksta Rap' in 2005, and Ludacris voicing both himself and the hilarious dental rapper "Luda-Crest," in 2007's 'You Kent Always Say What You Want.'

One of the show's most famous guest stars is the late great Michael Jackson, who voiced the character of Leon Kompowsky in 1991. A Michael Jackson impersonator contributed the touching hit 'Happy Birthday, Lisa' in the same episode. In real life, Michael also penned the rap 'Do the Bartman' in 1990, which became a chart-topping hit for Bart Simpson.
