Sadly, MTV Scream fans are going to have to wait a lot longer (like, forever) to finally answer the Brandon James mystery. Season 3 has confirmed plans to reboot the premise with new showrunners, even adding Queen Latifah as a new producer.

MTV had previously renewed its modern Scream for a third, shortened season, but instead opted for a hard reboot, depending on a new showrunner to “shape the concept for Season 3.” Now, TVLine reports that Supernatural and Vampire Diaries alum Brett Matthews will take over as showrunner, with Flavor Unit Entertainment’s Queen Latifah, Shakim Conpere and Yaneley Arty joining as executive producers.

Season 2 saw showrunners Michael Gans and Richard Register taking the reins from Jill Blotevogel, but ratings continually tumbled from the 1.03 million viewers Scream began with. The series also aired a Halloween special in October, though it remains unknown if any of the prior characters could return down the line.

We’ll see if MTV manages anything different with a second reboot of the Scream franchise, but will we ever find out what became of the first TV cast?
