In route to my daughter's gymnastics class at Tuscaloosa Tumbling Tides, a sign outside Talecris Plasma Resources captured my interest.  It stated that people who recovered from COVID-19 were sought as plasma donors.

I decided I was going to contact them to get more information, but they actually called me the very next day!

As it turns out, Talecris is in the middle of a massive campaign where donors can make $500 per month by donating a substance that takes no effort to obtain.  Our bodies make plasma on their own.

During a time where employment can be shaky, this could be a life saver in more ways than one. Donors are being compensated $50 for each donation this summer.  Unfortunately, this offer expires at the end of September.

However, those with convalescent plasma are being paid $100 per donation. Talecris' website states the following:

If you've recovered from COVID-19, then you've developed antibodies against the virus, which reside in your blood plasma. Share a portion of your antibodies with a plasma donation, an act of kindness that may help others make a recovery. As your body produces more to maintain your immunity, you can potentially donate multiple times. As a special thanks, those who give convalescent plasma will earn $100 per visit.

Those who have recovered from the coronavirus will have to provide documentation of such, as Talecris will not test for COVID-19 as a means of qualifying willing donors.  For more information on donor requirements, click here.

To learn more about plasma donation, the donation process, and who benefits from donated plasma, visit Talecris Plasma Resources online, call (205) 752-1547, or stop by 3201 10th Avenue, Ste E; Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
