Federal forecasters are predicting another busy hurricane season.  The outlook announced yesterday calls for 13 to 20 named storms, 7 to 11 that strengthen into hurricanes and 3 to 6 that become major hurricanes.

The investigation into the mysterious respiratory infection that was believed to be responsible for two deaths and eight hospitalizations in southeast Alabama is said to be closed, as researchers have found only cold and flu viruses.

Officials in Washington state say three people have been taken to the hospital after a bridge north of Seattle collapsed yesterday, dumping their vehicles into the water. No one is believed to have been killed, but a dive team is continuing to search the waters.
