Local investigators are warning that a scammer is identifying himself as a deputy sheriff when calling potential victims, telling them they have failed to appear for jury duty. The suspect then demands money, but he refuses requests to meet in person.

Tutwiler dormitory at the University of Alabama was locked down at around 11pm last night as UAPD conducted a thorough search of the building following rumors of individuals with firearms in the dorm.  An all-clear was given around11:50, but an investigation will continue to determine where the rumors originated.
