University of Alabama student 19-year-old Daniel Evan Simmons was arrested by university police after an investigation into alarming messages that were sent the morning of Sept. 23. These messages are said to not be directly connected to the original campus threat last week. Simmons has been suspended and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Yesterday the names of seven outstanding citizens were added to the Tuscaloosa County Civic Hall of Fame in Government Plaza: Randy Skagen, Davis Burton Jr., Carolyn Fritz, Charles Durham, Charles Sittason, John Robinson, and Lee Hallman.
