Beginning today, the Alabama Department of Transportation will be patching the asphalt roadway on I20/59 North and Southbound between mile markers 76 and 100.  Motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution and expect heavy delays.

An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were treated at DCH Regional Medical Center early Sunday morning after being shot at a party on 9th Ave.  Neither wounds were life-threatening, but the investigation into the shootings continues.

Officials studying ways to reduce Alabama prison overcrowding and inmate recidivism say new sentencing guidelines that were implemented in 2013 are expected to stabilize and slow the growth of the state's prison population.

A quarterly survey by the National Association for Business Economics has found that only 24 percent of companies increased wages and salaries int he July-September quarter, down from 43 percent of companies in the April-June quarter and the first drop after three straight increases.

The Ebola incubation period for the family and friends of Thomas Eric Duncan ends today. They'd been confined under armed guards for 21 days to make sure they hadn't contracted the deadly virus. This also means the incubation period has passed for about a dozen health workers who encountered Duncan when he went to the Dallas hospital for the first time on Sept. 25.

The U.S. military has airdropped weapons, ammunition and medical supplies to Kurdish forces defending the Syrian city of Kobani against Islamic State militants. Early yesterday, the U.S. said it had launched 11 airstrikes overnight in the area.
