After spending 17 years in the NFL, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has finally secured his first cover on EA’s Madden NFL series.

Brady announced that he is the new cover star of Madden 18 on social media. The 39-year-old footballer follows his fellow Patriots teammate Rob Gronkowski who was on the cover last year. Brady joked that he’s not afraid of the “Madden Curse,” and to prove it he broke a mirror and walked under a ladder.

“The Madden NFL 18 cover is a great honor for me,” said Brady in a statement (via SI.com). “Especially since I have been playing the game since growing up next to EA headquarters in the Bay Area. I'm not one to believe in curses, so I'm ready to take the challenge head on like always! It doesn't stand a chance!!!”

The Madden NFL 18 game will arrive in stores on Aug. 25, right around the start of the 2017-18 football season. Tom Brady is one of the most decorated athletes in the NFL. He has five Super Bowl rings, appeared in 12 Pro Bowls and earned two MVP awards.
