Coming off one of the best seasons in school history, the Alabama Athletics Department will celebrate its latest championships this Friday at 4:30 p.m. with an unveiling at the Sarah Patterson Champions Plaza, located in front of Coleman Coliseum.

The ceremony, which will include the coaches and student-athletes from each of the championship teams, will honor the Crimson Tide’s 2014 NCAA champion men’s golf team, as well as Alabama’s four Southeastern Conference championship teams from the 2013-14 academic year – men’s golf, gymnastics, softball and women’s tennis.

For the men’s golf program, the 2014 title was its second consecutive national championship, in addition to earning its third SEC title in a row and fifth overall. Gymnastics won its eighth SEC title while softball won its fifth regular-season league championship. Women’s tennis won its first SEC title last season.

The 2014 NCAA title by men’s golf marked the Crimson Tide’s ninth national championship since 2009, a stretch that includes three football, two gymnastics, two men’s golf, one softball and one women’s golf championship.

On the conference level, Alabama tied its single-year best by winning SEC team titles in four sports, matching the standard originally set during the 2009-10 season. Since 2009, Alabama teams have won a combined 16 SEC team championships in seven sports.

Each program will unveil their addition to the plaza honoring all of Alabama’s SEC and national championship teams outside of football, which is honored in front of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The event is open to the public and all Crimson Tide fans are encouraged to attend.
