Since the crash of the housing industry, laws have been instated and rules have been changed that decreases the chances of predatory lending, seemingly making it harder to obtain financing for home ownership.  But the City of Tuscaloosa is working to help residents get financing.
This Sunday, our public affairs program (Pinto Beans and Collard Greens) will provide information on the upcoming free home buyers education course which must be attended to receive up to $10,000 toward the purchase of a home through the City's Homebuyer's Assistance program.  However, in that conversation, it was revealed that many potential buyers were hindered from doing so because of their credit.
In response to this issue, the City of Tuscaloosa is holding a free credit builders workshop on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Richard Curry Environmental Services Facility at 3440 Kauloosa Ave. At this event, lending experts will help potential buyers prepare for home ownership by giving credit-building advice.  For more information, call (205) 248-5700.
