Last night, the city of Tuscaloosa voted in favor of adding a parking deck on Fourth Street, between Greensboro Avenue and 23rd Avenue. It will add 253 more parking spaces.

It was a unanimous vote. However, council-members wanted to make sure it would be a safe place, so cameras and lighting will be added. Also, they will add greenery for aesthetic purposes.

All spaces in the deck will be used for parking, the first floor will be used to accommodate commercial and local business nearby.

Residents are ecstatic that a parking deck will be added, especially after so many new businesses are opening and finding parking is always a hassle.

The City council will now have to approve final designs and then vote on a company for a shared development agreement.

They have not given an estimate on when the parking deck will be done, but hopefully before next football season!
