A Gadsden man has been arrested on drug trafficking charges after Heflin police discovered cocaine and cash in his car.

Darius Cozar Ellis, 42, is being held in the Cleburne County Jail on $1.5 million bond according Heflin Police Chief A.J. Benefield.

Heflin said Ellis was stopped for a traffic violation this morning about 3:30 on Interstate 20 around mile marker 200. A search of his car was conducted after an officer noticed the smell of burnt marijuana.

Officers found $6,751 cash, 2.6 pounds of cocaine in a special compartment, and Glock 40 which was reported stolen by Ellis.
