Alabama State Troopers were looking for a suspect they say ran away from a highway checkpoint Saturday night. It now appears the man crashed his car and died during his escape.
Over the weekend, the family of Darnell Williams reported him missing after they tried calling him numerous times and he didn't show up at home. Afterwards, the family learned he was in a high speed chase Saturday with Alabama state troopers between Fosters and Greene County.

According to al.com,Troopers say Williams refused to pull after he fled a driver’s license checkpoint. They say at one point he was driving the wrong way on the interstate and they lost sight of him. Williams left the road, overturned in a heavily wooded area and was ejected from his vehicle. They add he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. But Williams' mother and sister believe something else happened and they want answers.

On Tuesday, troopers found his body near his Toyota Camry in a swamp just off I-20/59 between the Western Bypass exit and Fosters in western Tuscaloosa County.
