I don't think I need to say how important Sickle Cell Screening is within the Black Community. Sickle cell has been a cancerous decease that has baffled doctors for years. Screening at n early age gives parents and young adults an opportunity the chance to detect it early.

That's why The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America west Alabama Chapter will conduct a free screening to test for the trait at Spiller Furniture and Mattress located at 1940 Harper road in Northport. The screening will take place on Saturday, November 5th from 10:30 - 2:30 inside the store.

Sickle cell affects about 100,000 people in the U.S, that's 1 out of every 365 African American's could contract the disease. Rob Moore said Spiller Furniture and Mattress is doing everything we can to continue our community out reach and that this event does just that.
